Institutionalizing UDL: How to Implement UDL and Make It Sustainable!

The ACCESS Project at Colorado State University presents a 3-hour workshop for higher education professionals who are concerned with the implementation and promotion of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). This workshop, hosted by Arapahoe Community College and geared toward stakeholders from institutions belonging to the Colorado-Wyoming Consortium of Support Programs for Students with Disabilities, focuses on methods of integrating UDL into the fabric of the institutions to make lasting improvements to the educational experiences of students with disabilities or diverse learning styles, leading ultimately to improvements in student persistence and retention.

Utilizing resources developed by the ACCESS Project, this workshop discusses innovative and inclusive classroom teaching methods, along with techniques for the creation of accessible course materials. The workshop will help participants develop a sustainable plan for implementing UDL at their institutions. Upon completion, each attendee will have formulated an action plan that includes strategies for implementing and “institutionalizing” UDL principles and practices in all aspects of instruction and student life.
