Universal Design for Learning: Implementation in Educational Settings
Workshop for Integrated Services, Poudre School District - October 12, 2011
Abstract
Public schools are the second largest employer of occupational therapists. This session will examine the role of OTs in educational settings and offer a perspective that places more emphasis on collaboration and consultation based on the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) model. UDL increases the scope of what school-based OTs have to offer. More specifically, the presenters will make the case that UDL offers a more impactful solution and is a good fit with the Response to Intervention (RtI) model. The presentation will conclude with suggested classroom interventions based on UDL principles.
